Policy Statement
It is important to me that my policies are understood and adhered to so that I can provide the highest quality care to all of the children at Mariah On High.
All Holidays, Tuition, and Vacations are Paid once month by the 1st .
I try to provide a quality substitute when I am Ill or have an emergency for which I must be away from my facility. When possible, you will be given advance notice. The substitute will follow my schedule and will conduct the childcare service in my home.
Arrival: There is attendance form which MUST be signed when you bring your child for care or done with an App. Due to Pandemics arise, I will bring it to you to sign your child in or out or I will Sign your child in. I DO NOT assume responsibility for your child until he/she has been signed in. I will be taking temperature every day to keep everyone safe from illness including staff and myself. If Parents enter your temperature will be taken.
Late Arrival: It is important that your child arrive at the scheduled time, so that I can plan the day’s activities. If your child will arrive more than an hour after the regular time, please text or call me so that I may proceed with the day’s activities. I will call if I feel an emergency arise.
I do not accept children who are possibly contagious. Signs of a contagious illness may include Covid, vomiting, fever, diarrhea, bad colds, flu, neck swelling, as well as symptoms of common childhood diseases. If your child is sick enough that you find yourself wondering if I will accept him or her, its probably best to keep the child at home. If all parents cooperate with this rule, you will be protecting each other’s children.
Toys and personal belongings. I encourage your child to bring a favorite item from home to help the child’s separation from you. However, I will not be responsible if an item becomes accidentally broken or lost. I will do my best to prevent this from occurring.
Please dress your children for play, understanding that children do get messy some times. I do provide paint smocks for painting. A second set of clothes must be provided in case your accidentally gets wet or has an accident.
Nutrition: I will provide the food unless your child is on a special diet (then you would continue to bring the food) There should always be an extra two day’s supply on hand for emergency use (as part of our disaster Preparedness plan). I will give all parents an emergency Zip Bag with listed items to bring for emergency preparedness. I provide only nutritious food in accordance with the recommendations of the Child Care Food Program USDA accept when we do special cooking projects. If your child has special dietary needs, you will be expected to provide these food items.
Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). My participation in the CACFP require that I have you fill out certain paper statements before I may be reimbursed for your child’ meals. Let us know if your child’s food allergies such as milk, nuts, tomatoes etc. We serve Almond milk and healthy choices if you would like cow milk let me know.
Field Trips: I will notify you when we go on a field trip away from my immediate neighborhood. I will ask you to bring your child’s safety seat (if applicable) on the days of such field trips since they are required by law. I may also ask you contribute money that may be needed for the special trip or activity. Sometimes parents can participate by volunteering as you know children like their families to participate. We will need necessary documents to do so according state regulations.
Walking Trips in my Neighborhood: Sometimes, we will take walks around the immediate area. These walks are covered the blanket permission slip you sign with your enrollment.
Photographs: At times, I may wish to photograph or videotape the children for my records or for your viewing of their activities. Permission to do so will be covered with your enrollment papers.
Injury or Illness. I will determine the appropriate course of action in case of illness or injury in my childcare facility. Permission for me to do this covered in your enrollment papers. You will be telephoned to pick your child, if needed, should your child become sick or injured and need immediate medical attention. In case of serious injury, 911 will be called first, then you will be called. I’m a Certified CPR & First Aid Instructor EMSA for over 20 years and Staff are trained by me.
The emergency card that you fill out at the time enrollment must be kept up to date so that I may contact you at any time. Please inform me of any changes of address, phone, or job as soon as possible. All enrollment forms contracts and state forms must be done before enrollment. We have a 1.5 to 2 hr time for us to fill out paperwork.
Your child will be released only to you or persons on your emergency information card. If you have someone else that is not listed, please call me or text so I can know in advance. Under no circumstances will anyone else be allowed to pick up your child without permission directly from you by text or phone.
If there is a court order keeping a parent or guardian from the child, I must have a copy of the restraining order to keep in the child’s file. Otherwise, I cannot prevent the noncustodial parent from picking up the child.
I will not take your child to doctor or dentist appointments unless an emergency exists.
I conduct a program based on modern educational techniques that are considered to appropriate for young children. I will help all children with pre-reading and writing skills. They will learn these skills through their play, art, music, language, and other planned activities. I am aware that there are excellent children’s programs but I will not be using TV as a learning tool. If your child is 3 years or older and not Potty Trained, we have to charge a fee. Our program has a busy curriculum and activities. Having myself or teacher to stop to change diapers takes away from our curriculum. We will work with parents that want their children potty trained.
Special Activities are designed for school aged children and a time and place for them to do homework is provided.
I have complete plans for responding to a disaster, such as fire, flood, tornado, earthquake, bomb threat, or other such catastrophe occurring. We perform drills to help the children learn what to do in case of emergency. Plans are available for all person’s who assist in my preschool program, even if only occasionally.
Discipline: Discipline comes from the word disciple meaning to teach. I use only early child development methods of discipline. I do not punish children for behaving like children. I teach them safety rules to keep them from getting hurt. Then, I teach them according to their age, to share, be kind, take turns and to help one another. We are all Friends.
Birthdays are celebrated with special activities planned in the child’s honor. You may bring a special birthday treat such as cake (banana, frozen fruit bars, cream bars or carrot cake only, please), oatmeal cookies, fruit cup, or another healthy snack. I will provide any additional items for the celebration. If you do not celebrate special holidays or cultural days due to religious beliefs, please let me know so I can respect your personal beliefs.
All information regarding individuals and families is maintained in Strick confidentiality. I do accept play therapy, trauma coaches, and therapeutic services to my program to help children development.
Some child care agencies may be excepted from certain policies.
Any fees due and payable must be paid at that time. If an emergency arises and you cannot make the payment on time, please let me know in advance.
